Officers arriving at the scene observed Jenry Guadalupe Custodio Casimiro outside the restaurant after he had reportedly shot two people during what authorities described as a domestic-related incident. On 06/06/2026, Austin police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting Josh Ryan Trumble behaving erratically, bleeding, and attempting to enter homes in the area of the 7600 block of Grover Avenue. Officers located Trumble lying in a front yard and attempted to detain him while awaiting emergency medical personnel. During the arrest, Trumble pulled his hands beneath his body as officers attempted to handcuff him. Officer Justin Wright deployed a Taser, after which officers secured Trumble in handcuffs. Within seconds, Trumble became unresponsive. Officers began CPR and continued lifesaving efforts until Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived. Trumble was pronounced dead at the scene. The Travis County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death. On 06/04/2026, a Callaway County Sheriff's deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on State Road E near County Road 271. The driver, Joseph G. Fennewald, fled and led deputies on a pursuit across multiple state and county roads. The vehicle stopped in the front yard of a residence on State Road E. Fennewald exited the vehicle, entered a nearby house, then emerged carrying a rifle and ran into a wooded area. On 06/01/2026, deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and members of the U.S. Marshals Service went to a residence in the 5700 block of Linden Court to serve a criminal mischief warrant and a court ordered mental health commitment order on Austin D. Mark, 44. Police stated that Mark locked himself inside a garage and refused to surrender. Officers spent several hours attempting to negotiate with him. Police stated that when officers breached the garage, Mark fired multiple rounds, striking a deputy in the hand. Officers opened fire. During the standoff, a fire started inside the garage. After firefighters extinguished the fire, Mark was found dead inside. Authorities later identified him as Austin D. Mark. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting.

On 06/02/2026, Omaha Police responded to a disturbance involving a landlord and tenant at a residence on South 19th Street. Matthew Strain, who had been told to vacate the property, refused to leave and threatened to shoot anyone who entered his room. Officers reported hearing a firearm being loaded and obtained a warrant after learning Strain was allegedly prohibited from possessing firearms. Negotiators and the Omaha Police SWAT Team attempted for several hours to persuade him to surrender. Police said Strain repeatedly threatened to shoot officers and claimed to possess numerous firearms and large quantities of ammunition. At approximately 4:00 p.m., SWAT used a tactical vehicle to breach part of the structure. Police reported that Strain fired a rifle from a second-story window toward officers and the tactical vehicle. Four SWAT officers returned fire, striking and killing him. Investigators later reported that multiple firearms and thousands of rounds of ammunition were recovered from the residence.

On 06/01/2026, deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to The Century at Katy apartments at 1002 Katy Gap Road after reports that a 20 year old woman had been shot. Deputies found the woman dead inside an apartment. Investigators identified Caleb Green, her current or former intimate partner, as the person responsible for the shooting. Police located Green nearby and attempted to take him into custody. Green fled, leading to a standoff with law enforcement. During the confrontation, Green died from a self inflicted gunshot wound before officers could arrest him. No officers fired their weapons. The woman's death was investigated as a domestic violence homicide and Green's death was ruled a suicide during the police response.

On 05/31/2026, an Oak Park Police Department officer conducted a traffic stop of a black SUV near Harrison Street and Austin Boulevard in Oak Park, Illinois. Christian V. Wallace was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The officer ordered Wallace out of the SUV and conducted a pat down. Police stated that the officer located a concealed firearm on Wallace.
According to police, a prolonged physical struggle followed over control of the firearm. Police stated that Wallace regained possession of the gun during the struggle. The officer then opened fire, striking Wallace multiple times. Wallace was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m.
The officer was also hospitalized for injuries sustained during the struggle and was later released. Police reported that a firearm with a defaced serial number was recovered. The Cook County Medical Examiner reported that Wallace sustained four gunshot wounds. The Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force is conducting the investigation.

On 05/30/2026, Louisville Metro Police officers responded to reports that a man had assaulted multiple people in the 3000 block of Cromarty Way. Police stated that Martin Nitzken Jr., 27, left the area and was running through the neighborhood nude. Officer Nathan Stotts located Nitzken sitting in the street. Police stated that Stotts ordered him to show his hands and stop approaching. Nitzken continued walking toward the officer and Stotts opened fire, killing him. Louisville Metro Police later released body camera footage of the shooting. Police Chief Paul Humphrey announced that he had begun the termination process for Officer Stotts, stating that the shooting did not meet department standards.
