On 02/11/2026, Jacksonville sheriff’s officers identified a vehicle reported stolen traveling in the Oceanway area and attempted a stop on New Berlin Road. The driver continued driving and officers pursued until the vehicle stopped. The driver ran from the vehicle and officers chased him on foot. During the encounter, two officers fired their weapons and struck the man, killing him. Authorities stated a firearm was recovered at the scene but have not described the sequence that led officers to shoot. The identity of the man has not been released and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened an investigation into the shooting.

On 02/11/2026, Metropolitan Police responded to a domestic shooting inside an apartment on the 1400 block of W Street NW where Stephon Marquis Jeter shot and killed Rayven Amuan Edwards and wounded a juvenile before taking a 3 year old child and leaving in a pickup truck. Police issued an Amber Alert and identified Jeter as the child’s father. Prince George’s County officers located the vehicle and escalated a chase into Washington where it crashed near 30th Street and Nash Place SE. Officers closed in and found Jeter inside suffering from a self inflicted gunshot wound. He died shortly afterward. Police later located the child safe with a relative. Investigators documented that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute that moved from the apartment into the hallway and triggered the multi jurisdictional response.

On 02/11/2026, Charles County Sheriff’s Office officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Demarcus Irish in a residential area in the 10000 block of Cobbler Place in White Plains. Officers approached Irish during the operation and he raised a machete over his head while facing them. Two officers opened fire, striking him. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced Irish dead at the scene. Authorities recovered a machete near him. The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division assumed control of the case, identified the decedent and officers, and continues investigating the shooting while body worn camera footage review and release procedures proceed.
