OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/04/2026, a Dubuque Police Department officer observed a physical altercation outside Odd Fellows Bar in Dubuque. Police said Jaiondrick Lovely shot 29-year-old Cory Wilson Jr. during the confrontation. The officer then discharged his firearm at Lovely as Lovely ran toward the entrance of the bar. Both Lovely and Wilson Jr. sustained gunshot wounds. Officers and medical personnel provided emergency treatment at the location before both men were transported to separate hospitals. Each later died from their injuries. Authorities reported recovering a handgun at the location. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting the review of the officer’s use of force.
