OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/02/2026, deputies with the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 2:25 p.m. to the 200 block of South Tehama Street in Willows after receiving a report of a possible burglary at an apartment complex. Authorities encountered a man believed to be involved and entered the unit. Deputies reported coming under gunfire from inside, prompting them to call for a regional SWAT team and establish a perimeter and shelter-in-place order for nearby residents. After several hours without communication from the individual inside the apartment, tactical officers made entry into a bathroom where they found the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office stated no officers were injured and that the incident remains under investigation. Authorities have not publicly released the name, age, or race of the individual.
