On 01/02/2026, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to information connected to a shooting and reported kidnapping from the prior day in Snohomish County. Officers located a vehicle of interest and conducted a traffic stop in the Everett area. Police said Yancy Carcamo, 38, was a passenger in the vehicle. During the stop, police stated Carcamo shot the driver and then took control of the vehicle. Officers escalated a pursuit that continued onto Highway 526. Police said Carcamo was armed during the pursuit. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and used less-lethal tools before opening fire. Carcamo was struck by gunfire and died at the location where the pursuit ended. Authorities reported recovering a firearm. The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating the shooting.
