On 01/07/2026, Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot and killed by an on-duty U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on a residential street in south Minneapolis during a federal immigration enforcement operation. Good was seated in her SUV when multiple federal agents surrounded the vehicle and shouted commands. Video footage from multiple angles shows Good attempting to maneuver her vehicle out of a confined space while agents swarmed her vehicle near the driver-side door.

Video-based reporting and frame-by-frame analysis show that Good did not strike, run over, or make physical contact with the agent who fired 3 shots into her face and head at close range. The footage shows the agent stepping out of the vehicle’s path as the SUV moved forward and firing from the side as the vehicle passed. Good was left in the car and bled out while a physician on scene was seen on video to try to help her and be prevented by ICE agents. Federal officials and political leaders, including former President Donald Trump, publicly claimed the agent was nearly killed, but that characterization is disputed by video evidence, which shows no direct contact between the vehicle and the agent.

While ICE did not identify the shooter, the Minneapolis Star Tribune identified him as Jonathan David Ross, a 10-year veteran ICE agent.

Witness video further documents that after Good was shot, federal agents blocked bystanders from approaching the vehicle as she remained inside, bleeding and unresponsive. Witnesses reported that agents prevented immediate medical assistance, including stopping at least one doctor from reaching the vehicle, while pointing rifles at those attempting to help. Emergency medical aid was delayed as agents secured the area. Good was later pronounced dead inside the vehicle.

Federal authorities have not released the name of the agent involved, have not disclosed the type of firearm used by the agent, and have not stated how many shots were fired. ICE has not provided a detailed timeline of events, has not held a press conference, and has not released forensic or ballistic evidence. Officials have offered only limited statements asserting self-defense, without public evidence disclosure.
Good was a mother and lived in Minneapolis with her partner. Family members and community advocates described her as a caring parent and a creative person.Vigils and protests followed the killing, with community members demanding transparency, accountability, and the release of the agent’s identity. The case became a focal point for criticism of ICE tactics, secrecy, and use of force during enforcement operations.

This killing occurred within one week of another controversial ICE-related fatal shooting. On 12/31/2025, Keith Porter Jr., 43, was shot and killed in Los Angeles by an off-duty ICE agent at the Village Pointe apartment complex in Northridge.
