On 01/06/2026, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a domestic dispute and a woman screaming at the Luxor Club Apartments, 13800 Egrets Nest Drive, in the Bartram Park area. Officers located Daniel Rodriguez, 34. Police said Rodriguez left the immediate area and then returned holding a handgun. Officers J. Rodrick and J. Milam confronted him outside the apartment complex. Police said Rodriguez was holding the gun during the encounter. Both officers opened fire, striking him. Rescue personnel transported Rodriguez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police reported recovering a handgun. JSO stated the investigation followed department protocol, and body-worn camera footage was being reviewed.
