OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/07/2026, a police welfare check at a residence on Off South Street in Hinsdale escalated into a high intensity and violent police shooting after a prolonged standoff inside the home. Police went to the residence after receiving information from the FBI raising concerns about the man’s mental state. He had called the FBI himself and reported that police were listening to his phone. After arriving at his home, officers attempted to communicate with him for an extended period while he remained locked inside of his bedroom and allegedly told police to kill him. After several hours, police forced entry into the locked room. Police said the man was armed with a firearm and fired, striking the police chief and a sergeant. Officers fired a taser twice, then opened fire, fatally shooting him inside his home. He was transported to a hospital and later died. Massachusetts State Police are conducting the investigation.
