On 01/06/2026, North Little Rock police responded to reports of a person firing a gun in the 500 block of West A Avenue. Officers arrived at a residence shortly before 6 a.m. and encountered 49 year old Charles Wigginton outside the home while he was holding a shotgun. During the encounter, three officers opened fire. Wigginton was struck by police gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene.
