On 01/02/2026, Glenn County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported burglary at an apartment on the 200 block of South Tehama Street in Willows, California. Deputies entered the apartment to clear it and encountered a man who barricaded himself inside a bathroom. During the initial response, the man fired a gun from inside the bathroom. Deputies withdrew and requested assistance from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office regional SWAT team. Law enforcement established road closures and instructed nearby residents to shelter in place during the standoff. After several hours without communication, SWAT officers entered the apartment. Officers located the man inside the bathroom deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have not released his identity. The Glenn County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
