On 01/07/2026, Navajo Police Department officers responded to reports of a possible domestic kidnapping in the To’Hajiilee area west of Albuquerque. Authorities issued a shelter in place order affecting To’Hajiilee Community School, government offices, and nearby residents while officers searched for a woman believed to be in danger.
During the response, officers encountered a 38-year-old Native American man identified by authorities as connected to the reported kidnapping. He died at the location.
