OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/08/2026, Daniel Olson, 39, was killed by law enforcement following a vehicle pursuit in Coweta County, Georgia. A deputy attempted to stop Olson in an off-road vehicle on Lowery Road, and Olson fled, initiating a pursuit. The vehicle eventually pulled into a driveway; Olson fled into his home and initially refused to exit. Later, Olson exited with a handgun, drove to another area near Meadowbrook Lane, and approached a deputy with the weapon. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Olson refused commands to drop the firearm and fired at the deputy. The deputy returned fire, striking Olson, who was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital and later pronounced dead. The GBI is investigating the shooting, as is typical for law enforcement-involved shootings.
