On 01/09/2026, Cedar Hill police responded to reports of gunfire on U.S. Highway 67. Police located a stopped vehicle on the northbound shoulder. A woman exited the vehicle and was shot by the driver. Police then confronted the driver, identified as 29 year old Gage Harvey. During the encounter, police opened fire, striking Harvey. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The woman died at the scene. The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting.
