During the ensuing confrontation, an exchange of gunfire occurred. One tribal police officer was wounded and Lee was shot. He died from his injuries. The wounded officer was transported for medical treatment. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

On 06/07/2026, Hutchinson Police Department officers responded to 3313 Dartmouth Road to follow up on a theft investigation and contact Jonathan Lawrence, who was wanted for questioning. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Lawrence came outside the residence armed with a handgun. As officers attempted to detain and disarm him, a physical struggle occurred during which police said Lawrence struck both officers before running into the garage. One officer deployed a Taser, causing Lawrence to fall and drop the handgun. While another officer attempted to take him into custody, police reported that Lawrence regained control of the firearm. The officer who had deployed the Taser then fired multiple rounds, striking Lawrence. Officers and Reno County Sheriff's deputies provided medical aid until paramedics arrived. Lawrence was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting the independent investigation into the shooting.

On 06/06/2026, Carpentersville police responded to La Ilusion Restaurant & Bar in the 1300 block of Kings Road after reports of a shooting. Officers arriving at the scene observed Jenry Guadalupe Custodio Casimiro outside the restaurant after he had reportedly shot two people during what authorities described as a domestic-related incident. A Carpentersville police officer fired at Casimiro, striking him. Casimiro was pronounced dead at the scene. The two people wounded by Casimiro's gunfire were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. The Kane County Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the shooting.

On 06/06/2026, Austin police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting Josh Ryan Trumble behaving erratically, bleeding, and attempting to enter homes in the area of the 7600 block of Grover Avenue. Officers located Trumble lying in a front yard and attempted to detain him while awaiting emergency medical personnel. During the arrest, Trumble pulled his hands beneath his body as officers attempted to handcuff him. Officer Justin Wright deployed a Taser, after which officers secured Trumble in handcuffs. Within seconds, Trumble became unresponsive. Officers began CPR and continued lifesaving efforts until Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived. Trumble was pronounced dead at the scene. The Travis County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death. The Austin Police Department, the Travis County District Attorney's Office, and Austin Police Oversight are investigating the in-custody death.
