OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On January 10, 2026, the Kentucky State Police, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, were attempting to locate a homicide suspect from Georgia driving a stolen vehicle when troopers and Berea police attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit began on Interstate-75, reaching speeds over 100 mph, before continuing onto I-64 westbound into Franklin County. Police made several attempts to end the pursuit using tire-deflation devices. Near the 50-mile marker of I-64, the driver lost control, crossed the median into oncoming traffic, and struck a commercial vehicle. The driver, later identified by the Franklin County Coroner as 30-year-old Ryan M. Ebler of Martinsville, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is being investigated by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.
