OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/14/2026, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force attempted to stop Kevyon Jackson in the 3100 block of Madewell in the Frayser area of Memphis, Tennessee. Jackson did not stop, and officers escalated a chase that continued for approximately five miles. The pursuit ended at the intersection of James Road and Warford Street in the Raleigh area, where Jackson’s vehicle collided with a box truck. Both vehicles flipped multiple times during the crash. Jackson was killed at the scene. Family members stated that Jackson was on the phone with a relative at the time of the pursuit, and the call ended at the moment of the crash. Authorities stated the task force was attempting to stop Jackson in connection with alleged outstanding warrants. Family members disputed that claim and provided documentation indicating prior aggravated assault charges had been expunged. A search of the Shelby County warrant database did not show an active warrant at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the decision to pursue and the basis for the stop remain under scrutiny.
