On 03/10/2026, Riverton police conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 15 just south of Bangerter Highway in Draper for possible narcotics activity. Officers observed Branden Scott Markham, who was sitting in the passenger seat, with a gun and ordered him to surrender it. Police said he refused, and an altercation occurred outside the vehicle. During the altercation, an officer shot Markham. He was airlifted to a hospital and died the next day. Police detained the driver, Shawn Michael Shalosky, and placed the involved officer on administrative leave.

On 03/04/2026 at about 8:25 a.m., Mohave County deputies responded to a property on Muscovite Road to arrest a man in connection with a reported domestic violence aggravated assault earlier that morning. Deputies attempted to make contact and the man barricaded himself inside a trailer, telling deputies he had a gun. Authorities reported that flames were soon seen inside the trailer and deputies began taking gunfire from the man. Four deputies opened fire, striking him. As the trailer became fully engulfed in flames, deputies pulled him away from the entrance. He was pronounced dead. Bullhead City police are conducting the outside investigation, and the deputies who fired were placed on paid administrative leave.

On 03/03/2026, Coventry police responded to a disturbance on Anthony Street where police said Derek Decosta forced three people into a vehicle at knifepoint. Police stopped the vehicle on Washington Street. The driver backed into a Coventry police cruiser, damaging it. The three people exited the vehicle during that encounter. Police chased the vehicle. Decosta drove to Main Street and crashed into a home at 1044 Main Street. Emergency crews transported him to Kent County Hospital, where he died. No one inside the home was injured, though residents were displaced.

Officers spent about an hour engaging with 34-year-old Gustavo Guimaraes of Acworth in the parking lot of a Publix grocery store. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, during the interaction Guimaraes pulled out a handgun, and officers opened fire, striking him multiple times. On 03/03/2026, New Castle County police responded around 3:50 p.m. to a report of gunfire inside a home on the unit block of Ramsey Road in Wilmington. A caller reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing Daniel Shacklett, an acquaintance, with a handgun before fleeing and calling 911. Officers arrived and reported hearing additional gunfire from inside the residence while establishing a perimeter and activating the crisis management group, including SWAT and negotiators. A roughly four-hour standoff followed as officers attempted communication by phone, text, and loudspeaker. Shortly before 8:00 p.m., Shacklett exited the home carrying a shovel and swung it toward officers. Officers deployed less-lethal measures, but he went back inside, returned holding knives, and moved toward officers. Several officers then fired their weapons, striking him. Shacklett died at the location. Authorities identified him on March 5 and turned his body over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science.
