On 01/14/2026, Thornton police responded to a reported shooting near the 9600 block of Huron Street during the early morning hours. Officers identified a vehicle leaving the area and initiated a pursuit. The chase continued south and ended near 56th Avenue and Federal Boulevard. When officers stopped the vehicle, they found a male inside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the location. Another person inside the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital. Authorities detained multiple individuals in connection with the incident.
