On 06/07/2026, a Round Lake Beach police officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Cedar Lake Road just south of Rollins Road. The driver continued driving, leading to a pursuit. Police terminated the stop attempt on Rollins Road approximately five blocks east of Cedar Lake Road and lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a traffic light pole at the intersection of Route 83 and Rollins Road. The 39-year-old driver was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The incident remains under investigation.

On 06/03/2026, police responded to a hostage situation at a downtown office building at 1515 17th Street in Bakersfield. The building housed a Chase Bank branch and offices of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. Anthony Scott Searles-Harris allegedly entered the building on the afternoon of June 2 and held 10 people hostage while claiming to have explosives attached to himself and some of the hostages. Police and FBI negotiators remained in contact with him during a standoff that lasted approximately 15 hours. Two hostages were released during negotiations while the remaining hostages stayed inside overnight. Authorities stated that some hostages were tied up and that devices believed to be explosives were observed. Around 4:20 a.m. on June 3, FBI personnel entered the building after authorities reported concerns about Searles-Harris's behavior and the condition of a hostage. Police and FBI personnel opened fire, killing Searles-Harris. All hostages were recovered alive. The FBI is leading the investigation into the shooting.

On 06/03/2026, Newburgh Heights police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Jumel Lewis. Lewis continued driving away while officers pursued him into Cleveland. During the pursuit, Lewis crashed into several civilian vehicles near East 74th Street and Harvard Avenue, injuring multiple people.
After the crash, Lewis fled on foot into Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood. While running through the area, he encountered another person near the 7400 block of Clement Avenue and shot the individual. The victim was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
Lewis continued fleeing from responding officers before entering the backyard of a residence in the 7500 block of Park Avenue. There, while police closed in, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identified him as Jumel Lewis, 23, of Cleveland. Cleveland police investigated the shooting, while the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit handled the crash scene.

On 06/03/2026, Bakersfield Police officers assisting the Kern County Auto Theft Task Force attempted to stop a GMC truck driven by 18-year-old Ramiro Gutierrez-Ramos, who was wanted on a felony warrant and was believed to be driving a stolen vehicle. Gutierrez-Ramos fled, leading officers on a pursuit through southeast Bakersfield. Investigators reported that he reached speeds approaching 98 mph before failing to stop at a stop sign at East Panama Lane and Tejon Highway. His vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by Amy Denise Menefee. Menefee suffered critical injuries and died as a result of the crash. Gutierrez-Ramos and a passenger fled on foot after the collision but were apprehended a short time later. On 06/03/2026, a Pittsburg Police officer who had completed his shift observed Jalen Dior Green acting erratically near the 200 block of West 3rd Street. According to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Green removed his clothing and ran alongside the officer's patrol vehicle. On 06/03/2026, Orange County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 8200 block of Tivoli Drive after a caller reported a woman screaming in the street. Deputies located Rosalia Hodges inside her residence and attempted to make contact. According to Sheriff John Mina, Hodges answered the door holding a large knife. Deputies retreated toward the street and repeatedly ordered her to drop the weapon. Authorities reported that Hodges refused commands, repeatedly threatened to kill the deputies, and advanced toward them while armed with the knife. Three deputies then fired their service weapons, striking her. Hodges was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Sheriff Mina stated that Hodges had previously been the subject of Baker Act commitments in other Florida jurisdictions. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.

On 06/02/2026, officers with the Atlantic City Police Department served a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of North Florida Avenue. Police stated that Donald Capriotti, also known as Donald Gardner, opened fire on officers as they entered the residence. Sergeant Christian Ivanov and another officer were struck by gunfire and injured. Police opened fire, killing Capriotti. Police stated that Isawan Foster was involved in a dispute with a woman and another man, later identified as Brandon Wade. Investigators reported that Wade was arrested on charges of domestic violence and assault. According to police, officers encountered Foster outside the residence and a confrontation followed. Police stated that Foster had a gun and officers opened fire, killing him. Foster was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
