On 01/15/2026, a man was shot and killed by a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the Channelview area of east Harris County. Deputies responded to a call reporting a man “acting suspiciously” and claiming to be a police officer at a residence on Ridlon Street near Sheldon Road. When deputies arrived and asked the man to provide identification, he was unable to do so. According to authorities, the situation escalated and deputies opened fire, striking the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is currently unknown if he had been armed or a threat.
