OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/15/2026, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Enforcement Team agents and Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a residence in the 100 block of Middle Road in Collins to execute an arrest warrant issued out of Emanuel County for Clinton Wayne Scarboro, 35, of Uvalda. Agents attempted to contact Scarboro inside the home and issued repeated commands. Authorities reported deploying pepper-based chemical agents into the residence when he did not respond. After those efforts failed, agents sent a robot into the home. According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the robot’s camera showed Scarboro seated on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound and a firearm near his hand. Agents entered the residence, removed Scarboro, and turned him over to emergency medical personnel. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct the autopsy, and the completed case file will be submitted to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
