OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/16/2026, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Caraway Apartments in the 7400 block of North Broadway in Northglenn on reports of a man firing a gun. Deputies located a 33-year-old man in the parking lot area. Authorities said the man had a firearm and exchanged gunfire with responding deputies. During the confrontation, a deputy was shot and transported to a hospital in stable condition. Deputies fired their weapons, striking the man. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died. The Adams County Sheriff’s Office has not released his name pending notification of next of kin. The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting, and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting. Officials have not announced whether body-worn camera footage has been released.
