OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 01/18/2026, Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Kingston Springs Police Department officers responded to a domestic assault report on Big Tom Road in Kingston Springs. Police said a man threatened another person with a firearm inside the residence. The reported victim left the home before officers arrived. Law enforcement surrounded the residence and attempted to contact the man for several hours. Police said he had a rifle and refused commands to exit. Crisis negotiators and a tactical team continued communication efforts during the standoff. After negotiations did not result in surrender, officers entered the residence and located the man deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities have not publicly released his name. Officials have not stated whether body camera or tactical video will be released.
