OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/20/2026 at approximately 9:14 p.m., Baltimore Police Department officers were dispatched to the 6800 block of Bank Street for a report of a person threatening another with a firearm. A 911 caller described the individual, who then fled the area on a bicycle. Officers located a man matching the description in the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue near the Interstate 95 southbound ramp. As officers attempted to detain him, a struggle ensued. According to police and body-worn camera footage released later, the man pulled a revolver and discharged it during the encounter. Multiple officers then returned fire, striking the man. Officers provided emergency aid until EMS arrived, but the man died at the location. No officers were injured. The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is conducting the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, and involved officers have been placed on administrative duty per department protocol.
