On 01/22/2026, deputies from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a sexual assault in progress on Circleville-Ashville Road SE near Wynkoop Road in Pickaway County, Ohio. Upon arrival, law enforcement located a man matching the description provided by the reporting party. The man was armed and did not comply with officer commands. Deputies attempted to de-escalate and order the man to disarm. The man raised a firearm and pointed it in the direction of officers. In response to the threat, a deputy discharged their service weapon and struck the armed man. Medical personnel transported the wounded man to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has taken over the investigation of the officer-involved shooting in accordance with state protocol. No deputies were reported injured in the incident.
