On 01/21/2026, a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a stolen Salvation Army bus that police had been monitoring following a pursuit authorization in North Las Vegas. Police reported the bus was taken from a Salvation Army facility, and officers initially authorized a pursuit due to concern that a passenger might still be onboard. After determining no passengers were inside, police discontinued ground pursuit while an air unit continued tracking the vehicle. The bus traveled through multiple areas of the Las Vegas Valley and sustained tire failures. At the intersection of West Tropicana Avenue and Grand Canyon Drive, the bus ran a red light and collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later detained the driver after the crash.
