On January 22, 2026, at approximately 11:39 p.m., New York State Police responded to a wrong-way collision on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of Mount Pleasant. According to state police, a 2021 Infiniti driven southbound in the northbound lanes by 47-year-old off-duty NYPD Sergeant Tiffany P. Howell of Warwick collided head-on with a 2024 Toyota driven by 61-year-old Manuel Boitel of Peekskill. Boitel was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash. Howell was also hospitalized with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.
