n 01/22/2026, Port Huron Police and assisting agencies responded to a domestic violence call at approximately 7:19 p.m. in the 3000 block of 26th Street, Port Huron, Michigan. Upon arrival, 18-year-old Taquan Henderson began firing shots at officers from inside a residence. Officers established a perimeter and attempted communication, during which he continued shooting at police and out of a second apartment he had forcefully entered after the initial incident. Residents in the surrounding area were ordered to shelter in place as the situation unfolded for roughly three hours. Law enforcement deployed a drone into the home to locate him, who was ultimately found dead inside from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident resulted in at least one neighboring family being displaced from their home due to its involvement as a crime scene. Port Huron Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the domestic violence call and subsequent standoff.
