OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/25/2026 at approximately 6:24 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call reporting that a man and his dog had been stabbed in the parking lot of the SS Quickstop Grocery in Parkland, Washington. The caller told dispatchers that a man approached him, asked about his religion, and then stabbed him and his dog. Deputies located the injured man and provided aid until medics transported him to a hospital. The dog was also transported for veterinary care.
Deputies searched the surrounding area for several hours. At approximately 8:40 a.m., deputies located a man in the 800 block of 112th Street South who matched the description provided by the victim. Deputies moved to detain him. The man ran behind a nearby home. Deputies pursued him on foot. Deputies reported that the man had multiple knives. During the encounter, deputies fired their weapons. Deputies struck the man with gunfire. Medics transported him to a hospital, where he died.
Investigators stated that the man had knives in his possession during the encounter. The Pierce County Force Investigation Team is conducting the investigation.
