On 01/26/2026, deputies with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Garner, North Carolina, after a family member reported concerns about a man inside the home. When deputies arrived and made contact, authorities said the man confronted deputies while holding a firearm. Deputies opened fire, striking and killing him inside the residence. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting is being investigated by outside authorities, with findings to be reviewed by the district attorney.
