On 01/01/2026, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a vehicle in Knoxville for a traffic violation. The driver did not stop, and troopers initiated a pursuit that continued onto Papermill Drive. The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle crashed. Da’Qasia Middleton, 21, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was killed in the crash. Another occupant of the vehicle also died.
