OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/18/2026, Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies and Guntersville Police Department officers responded to a domestic-related call on Meadowbrook Drive near the Blount County line on Highway 79 South in Marshall County. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Gary Jerome Jordan, 58, of Guntersville, who was inside a camper referenced in the call. According to law enforcement, Jordan had a firearm and engaged in an exchange of gunfire with deputies and officers. A SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene. After officers made entry into the camper, Jordan was found deceased from gunshot wounds. Marshall County officials stated that no deputies or police officers were injured in the incident. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was notified in accordance with department policy, and the investigation has been turned over to the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation. Findings will be submitted to the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office. Authorities have not disclosed individual officer names or further tactical details.
