On 02/01/2026, Chicago police responded to reports of a man armed inside a residence in the Englewood neighborhood. Officers established a perimeter and a SWAT standoff followed that lasted approximately nine hours. After attempts to make contact were unsuccessful, officers entered the home and found the man with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated the man died by suicide while police were present.
