On 01/23/2026, officers from the St. Louis County Police Department were traveling on southbound Highway 67 near the Lindbergh Boulevard exit in St. Louis County when they observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes. Officers activated emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. The wrong-way vehicle continued driving and collided head-on with the police unit. The impact seriously injured two officers in the police vehicle. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical personnel transported the officers to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic investigators from the St. Louis County Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to conduct a collision investigation and determine contributing factors.
