OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 01/29/2026, the Sacramento Police Department responded to a reported bank robbery in progress on Response Road in Sacramento. Police located 56-year-old Andrew Baima, who was identified by law enforcement as the suspected robber. Body-worn camera and surveillance footage released by police show officers locating Baima on foot after the robbery. Baima pulled what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband and ran from officers. Officers commanded him to drop the weapon; he did not do so and pointed it at officers. Sacramento police officers then discharged their service firearms, fatally striking Baima. Officers provided medical aid until fire department personnel arrived; he was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. After the incident, officers recovered a realistic replica firearm at the location. No officer names have been publicly released. No other injuries were reported.
