OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/12/2026, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers responded to the 8300 block of Old Kings Road after receiving a report of a man holding a knife and behaving erratically outside a business. Officers located the man in a parking lot and gave verbal commands. Police stated the man moved toward the officers while holding a knife. Three officers fired their weapons, striking him. He was pronounced dead at the location. JSO stated the three officers were working their first solo patrol shift at the time of the shooting. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement opened an investigation into the use of force.
