OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/14/2026 at approximately 3:20 a.m., Tuscaloosa Police Department officers responded to multiple calls reporting a man acting erratically at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of North Rice Mine Road. Officers made contact with the 33 year old man inside a residence. During a physical struggle with officers, he became unresponsive. Officers requested medical assistance and he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities reported no visible signs of trauma. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the in custody death.
