On 02/15/2026, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to a Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Festus in connection with a homicide investigation tied to a stabbing and shooting at a residence in Fenton. Officers located 69-year-old Billy Moman inside a hotel room. After several hours of standoff activity, Moman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the room. No other individuals were injured during the standoff. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office identified Moman as the person connected to the earlier Fenton homicide.
