Event : Driver killed by police chase crash

OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/16/2026, Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a vehicle in Madison County during the early morning hours. The driver continued driving and deputies escalated a pursuit into Edwardsville. The chase ended when the vehicle crashed into the building, demolishing part of the Redmond Insurance Agency. The driver died from injuries sustained in the crash. Illinois State Police are investigating the pursuit and collision.
