On 02/16/2026, Cobb County Police officers responded around 10:38 p.m. to reports of gunshots and a man with a gun on Bradley Avenue in Marietta. Officers set up a perimeter around a residence. Hermelindo Morete-Dista came out of the home holding a handgun. Police gave commands and then opened fire, striking him multiple times. He died from his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
