OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/16/2026 at approximately 8:15 p.m., a Darke County deputy observed an SUV traveling 79 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Route 47 and turned to catch up, pacing the vehicle at around 100 mph before activating emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. Police escalated a pursuit after the driver accelerated away, and the chase lasted less than three minutes with speeds reaching approximately 124 mph along State Route 47. During the pursuit, the fleeing Range Rover Velar driven by Tarsem Singh lost control on a curve, crossed left of center, and struck an oncoming Jeep Cherokee head-on.
Ashlee Holmes, a 17-year-old passenger in the fleeing vehicle and a teen mother who was pregnant, was ejected during the crash and died from her injuries. Reporting states her unborn child also died as a result of the collision.
