OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/18/2026, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop a white Ford truck in Lancaster that police alleged was connected to a murder investigation. The driver accelerated away and deputies escalated a vehicle pursuit beginning near Avenue K, with speeds reportedly reaching around 100 mph. California Highway Patrol units joined and deployed spike strips to slow the vehicle. The truck struck spike strips, lost a tire, and continued fleeing before crashing onto railroad tracks near Sierra Highway and Avenue D. Miguel Bravo Gonzalez, a passenger in the fleeing vehicle, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead, while the driver was transported to a hospital. The fatal impact resulted from the fleeing vehicle’s loss of control after spike strip deployment during the active pursuit sequence rather than a collision with a police vehicle.
