On 02/17/2026 just before midnight, Broward Sheriff’s deputies spotted a stolen vehicle in Tamarac and escalated a vehicle pursuit after the driver allegedly reversed into a marked patrol vehicle and continued driving recklessly through the area. Deputies chased the vehicle through surface streets in a rapidly unfolding sequence described in records as a reckless chain of events that lasted only minutes. During the pursuit, a BSO patrol vehicle entered the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and West Prospect Road and collided with a civilian pickup truck that was making a left turn. The fleeing vehicle had already passed through the intersection when the deputy’s cruiser struck the pickup.
Ronald Wilson, the civilian driver of the pickup, suffered critical injuries in the collision and later died at a hospital.
