OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/17/2026, Shelby County deputies responded around 8:00 p.m. to a reported vehicle accident on County Road 42 and determined one of the vehicles had left the area. Deputies searched nearby and located a vehicle matching the description occupied by Kevin Tyrone Driver, 55, and arrested him on a DUI charge related to the crash investigation. Officers transported him to the Shelby County Jail, where he arrived at approximately 9:20 p.m. During the booking process, jail deputies attempted to place him in an observation cell and noticed signs of a medical emergency while he was being processed. He died from medical emergency during arrest/booking.
