OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY : On 02/19/2026, Hartford police responded to 990 Capitol Ave to assist mental health clinicians conducting a court-ordered evaluation inside an apartment. During the evaluation, police encountered an adult male and the situation escalated inside the residence. Police reported that the man produced a knife during the interaction with officers and clinicians. Officers opened fire and struck him during the confrontation inside the apartment setting. He was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
