OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY : On 02/20/2026 at approximately 2:45 a.m., Overland Police responded to a reported assault between roommates at a residence in the 9400 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue. Upon arrival, officers encountered an adult male outside with a weapon. The man fired a gunshot before retreating and barricading himself inside the home. An Overland Police officer called for assistance. St. Louis County Police Department units, including the Tactical Operations Unit and the Crisis Negotiations Team, responded to the scene to manage the barricaded man.
Officers observed the man break a window and wave a weapon from inside the residence. A Woodson Terrace Police Department officer fired his weapon during this confrontation. Investigators later made entry into the home just after 5:30 a.m. and located the man dead inside. The roommate from the initial assault suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment. The St. Louis County Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
