OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/21/2026, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call reporting a suicidal person with a gun at a manufactured home in Lawrence County. When deputies arrived, they saw the subject sitting in a chair through an open door. Deputies began talking to the man, and police said he pulled out a gun and pointed it at them and refused to drop the weapon. Deputies fired their weapons, striking Patrick Rowe multiple times. He was treated at the location and taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries. The Alabama Department of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency was asked to investigate the shooting.
