On 02/23/2026, Florida Highway Patrol attempted to stop a white sedan in Walton County in connection with a reported theft investigation. The driver did not stop. Troopers escalated a vehicle pursuit on US Highway 98. During the pursuit, the sedan entered an intersection against a red traffic signal and collided with an SUV and a pickup truck. The driver of the sedan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead following the crash.
