On 02/23/2026, Irving police stopped a driver near North Belt Line Road and Cross Country Trail shortly before 8 p.m. Police said they suspected narcotics possession. Officers attempted to detain the man, and a physical struggle occurred between the man and multiple officers. Police placed him in handcuffs. Police state that he had “visible injuries” from the fight. It is unknown how many officers participated in this arrest. Officers then called Irving Fire Department personnel, who transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death. The Dallas County Public Integrity Unit is reviewing the incident. Initial reporting does not indicate that the man had a weapon.
