OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 02/24/2026, Antioch police reported a gray Honda sedan stolen and broadcast that it was heading toward Oakley. Oakley police saw the Honda enter Oakley at about 80 mph and police chased the vehicle through multiple intersections. An Oakley supervisor allegedly called off the chase within seconds before the Honda ran into traffic at O'Hara Avenue and Laurel Road and hit bystander Erwin delaCruz’s vehicle, killing him. Police said three juvenile males were inside the Honda and all were hospitalized with major injuries, including one who was ejected. Police said the Honda also hit a second vehicle.
